Autumn Junior Programme
With 6 full size courts and 4 dedicated mini courts, we aim to give each child the opportunity to benefit from a structured but highly enjoyable sporting experience from a young age.
Children between 3 and 10 years old can now get stuck into the world of tennis with an exciting programme offering the perfect introduction to the sport, with all the fun and energy of the real thing.
There are four stages of LTA Mini Tennis; Tots, Red, Orange and Green, and this tailored approach enables players to develop vital skills and techniques at an early age.
We will be looking for talented players to place into squads and hopefully represent the Pavilion Tennis Teams.
All of our Junior programmes follow the LTA traffic light system. The LTA traffic system ensures that all children are given the opportunity to progress steadily at a speed that suits their ability.
Red ball mini tennis is for players aged 8 and under. It is played on smaller courts with shorter rackets and softer balls. It’s just like the real game and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots.
An orange ball is used. It has a low compression that makes it bounce lower, giving the player better control at an important stage of their development.
Green ball is the next step after orange ball mini tennis. It is played on a full tennis court, with bigger rackets and balls that are a little softer than yellow balls.
Yellow ball competition is for players aged 11 and over. It is played on a full tennis court, with full size rackets and full compression yellow balls. It’s the last stage of your tennis development and the technique and skills that you have developed through the stages of mini tennis can now be put into practice.
